In Dust 514 We Trust Chemical Brothers-inspired headlines abound as we at last get some shoot-in-face time with CCP’s first console game, DUST 514.

Assault Ship Testflight Having repackaged the Tier-3 battlecruisers, EON’s chief test pilot Kirith Kodachi fits and flies out another batch of Crucible vessels – EVE’s venerable assault ships. Between them these heavy-hitting frigates have received, thanks to January’s 1.1 release, the most eagerly-approved upgrades since the word ‘iteration’ was invented. All eight ships are given the full Testflight treatment in one of the biggest round-ups in EON history.
CSM6 In Review Seleene, the latest to head the Council of Stellar Management, looks back over the events of the last 12 months from the above-and-behind view reserved for the privileged members of EVE’s player-elected council. Several of EveHQ’s plug-ins are now unsupported – POS Manager, PI Manager and RouteMap.
Vsersion3.0 development in progress:
- EveHQ will require a minimum of .Net 4.0 to run. This is to replace functionality in the CoreControls library that will no longer be required (as well as some other coding improvements).
- Unless Microsoft come up with a non-installable database solution (a la SQLite) there will be no changes to the database format.
- POS Manager, PI Manager and RouteMap plug-ins are not currently part of the EveHQv3 solution, although they will be upgraded to .Net 4 and provided separately.
- EveHQ updates will no longer consist of multiple downloads. Instead, there will be a maximum of 2 – being code and database.
- Some of the existing plug-ins will be dropped but their functionality will reappear in other areas, namely Void, KillMail Viewer and Item Browser.
- As it stands, EveHQ will require a special .Net update to avoid trashing the existing settings. This is due to a binary serialisation incompatibility between .Net v2 and v4 (i.e. blame Microsoft).
In development for version 3.0
- Combat Log Analyser. This seems to be a missing element from most windows based applications and whatever websites have this functionality are fundamentally broken. This is currently being worked on as a separate project so if anyone has a desire to help code it from the outset, let me know!
- Standalone HQF. In a recent poll, HQF turned out to be the most used feature of EveHQ. With it being the most popular, I will be transforming the code so that it is able to work with or without the main EveHQ application.
- IGB improvements. Being able to interface with aspects of EveHQ from within Eve certainly has benefits. And as nice as the IGB is now, it needs more functionality. Already coded is an improvement to HQF that allows a fitting pasted in Eve to be copied instantly to the IGB and the result shown under your skill set. Practical use shows that from someone posting a fitting, you can view your stats of it within 5 seconds.
- PRISM re-write. Having coded and used PRISM for many years, I still think it’s useful but unfortunately, some of the most useful functionality is buried away and sometimes, you can achieve better results with a spreadsheet. The idea behind this would be to promote the most useful aspects and provide all information quicker and easier than at present. And, of course, adding new and improved functionality.
- Corporation Management Plug-in. With some demand for this and the lack of support for the POS Manager plug-in, this will provide a detailed corporation overview making use of member APIs, POS APIs and wallet APIs to provide a comprehensive management tool. Coupled with analysis features, this will also be invaluable to recruiters and auditors for members.
